Background and Approach

Growth does not require perfection.

Have you ever walked away from a difficult conversation wishing you had handled it differently? Perhaps your anxiety has been building, you are frustrated with yourself, or the same conflict keeps repeating within your family or relationship.

I’m Todd Giles, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I help adolescents, adults, couples, and families understand what is happening beneath those difficult moments and identify realistic ways to move forward.

My approach begins with listening—carefully and without judgment. From there, we identify opportunities for change and build an emotional toolbox with practical skills, new perspectives, and strategies you can use outside the therapy room.

Life is not a quest for perfection. It is an opportunity for enjoyable, sustainable growth.

Therapy for adolescents

Adolescents may communicate stress through anger, withdrawal, defiance, changes in motivation, or conflict at home and school. Beneath those behaviors, they may be struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, difficult relationships, or expectations they do not yet know how to manage.

I have experience providing brief, solution-focused therapy to adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges, including aggression and significant family conflict.

Therapy helps young people increase emotional awareness, communicate more clearly, strengthen coping and executive-functioning skills, and take greater responsibility for their choices without being defined by their mistakes.

Therapy for adults

You may know what you want to change but still find yourself responding in familiar ways.

Anxiety, self-doubt, relationship stress, and repeated communication problems can make it difficult to feel confident in your decisions. You may become frustrated with yourself for not handling situations “better,” even when you are doing the best you can with the tools you currently have.

I help adults approach these patterns with greater empathy, awareness, and accountability. Together, we identify what is within your control and develop practical ways to manage emotions, communicate needs, set boundaries, and respond more intentionally.

Couples and family therapy

Many relationship conflicts can be understood as differences in values, expectations, needs, or communication styles.

These differences do not automatically mean that a relationship is broken. They may indicate that the people involved need a clearer way to understand one another, establish boundaries, and talk about difficult subjects.

In couples and family therapy, I help clients identify recurring patterns, communicate emotions more clearly, and create shared expectations for how conflict will be handled. We work toward relationships grounded in mutual respect, acceptance, accountability, and realistic change.

Professional Background

Experience connecting people and solving problems

Before becoming a therapist, Todd worked in technology and the business world, helping people collaborate on music, video games, and other creative projects.

Across both careers, the part of the work he has valued most is listening to people describe their challenges and helping them identify effective strategies for overcoming them.

Todd brings that same combination of careful listening, collaborative problem-solving, and practical thinking to his clinical work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

Let’s connect

You do not need to handle every conversation perfectly or have every answer before beginning therapy.

You need a place to understand what is not working, recognize what can change, and develop tools that fit your actual life.

Let’s begin with a conversation.
